The home team have been the team to beat so far in the season. Bereft of any superstars, they have gone about their business in a very professional manner and have brushed aside all opponents.
The batting is led by Martin Guptill, who has been ably supported by Dwayne Smith and Chris Lynn. The experienced players have played with responsibility and have collared the initiative.
In the bowling department, Sohail Tanvir has been in irrepressible form both with the new ball and with the older one. Adam Zampa continues to grow in stature and is among the thick of things. On a slow and low surface, he will once again pose a threat to the Knight Riders batting.
They look like a well-oiled outfit and everything seems to be clicking for them and if they win this match they will solidify their grip at the top of the table.
Trinbago Knight Riders
The defending champions were one of the more flashy sides heading into the tournament, but things have not gone according to plan, and the performances have been undermining to say the least.
They have tremendous firepower in their batting department, but not once has the batting clicked in cohesion. Hashim Amla, Colin Munro, Dwayne and Darren Bravo have been among runs, but seldom have they come together in one match, and thus the results have not gone for them. They have called up wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin for the remainder of the CPLseason, and would ideally hope that his experience helps them.
The bowling is too much dependent on Sunil Narine, and the rest of the bowling looks far less effective. This will have to be sorted sooner rather than later, for it is a team game.
